Joint Research Project Scheme (JRPS) is designed to encourage and support joint research projects involving 2-3 competent research and training institutions/ individuals. The aim of the scheme is to encourage and foster cooperation between the best research centers inside and outside Iran.
The JRPS enables interested universities/research-centers/individuals, on a cost-sharing basis, to pursue research or the sharing of data with respect to particular areas or problems. The collaboration should be based on a single project including two teams or individuals: one based preferably inside Iran and the other based outside. The collaboration should involve bilateral visits between Iran and the country with which the overseas collaborator is based. The projects are carried out under the auspices, and also with the support, of the NIKI.
The NIKI awards grants to joint research projects with well-defined objectives, through universities and research centers.
Some research projects are already supported by JRPS and NIKI is also active in working with industry sectors to encourage them to fund research projects.
